Now that I know

“…once our eyes are opened, we can’t pretend we don’t know what to do. God, who weighs our hearts and keeps our souls, knows that we know, and holds us responsible to act.”
Proverbs 24:12

Dying to Self

This beautiful Autumn season is one of my most favourites. The leaves turning colours and slowly falling from the trees…the smell of smoke from woodstoves….pumpkins everywhere. The time where things begin to die off in preparation for winter.

This time of year especially “this year” for our family is about to be one of many changes we are preparing for. But for me personally, God is working hard in my soul and spirit. And that is dying to self“. Matthew 16:24-25… Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.”

So, as the house hunting continues and certain dreams begin to die for things that my heart prayed for and hoped for…. I realize that MY LIFE is really NOT my own, but God’s. My life belongs to my Lord and it’s not about me…it’s about Him. So daily (and yes, hourly) I ask God to help me die to self….asking for His dreams to fill my spirit and to rip out those things that are not “willed in heaven”. For then I will truly live.

John 3:30 He must become greater; I must become less.

John 12:24-25 Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. Those who love their life will lose it, while those who hate their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

2 Corinthians 4:10-12 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.

2 Corinthians 4:16-17 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Galatians 5:2424 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.

Philippians 3:88 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ.

Out Live Your Life

I have just finished reading the MOST amazing book…but like all my HSB friends know, I say that about all the books I read. However, this one IS amazing. I wept through the first three chapters, and then pulled myself together to finish a book that truly has changed the way I think, want to live and pray.

I had moments throughout this book where I felt like someone was sitting on my chest. The excitement just about literally “took my breathe away”. It was incredible. I will re-read it again at a more slow and diligent pace…pondering each chapter more in depth. I cannot recommend this book more highly….it will truly change your life.

God has been working so heavily in my heart these days…Romans and now Acts. I am so excited to see where God leads me and our family. It truly is a Crazy life, and when God is in control, there is no place I’d rather be. He is my everything.

May I OUT LIVE MY LIFE for a God who deserves MY EVERYTHING.

God is speaking, Am I listening?

This is SO exciting….God has been speaking to me through this passage the entire weekend….I think He is trying to tell me something, and I’m finally listening. Thank you Lord for your patience with me…and praising you for Your inspired Word.

Romans 8:28-39 (NIV)

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

A Jealous God

“God is jealous.”-Nahum 1:2
Your Lord is very jealous of your love, O believer. Did He choose you? He cannot bear that you should choose another. Did He buy you with His own blood? He cannot endure that you should think that you are your own, or that you belong to this world. He loved you with such a love that He would not stop in heaven without you; He would sooner die than you should perish, and He cannot endure that anything should stand between your heart’s love and Himself. He is very jealous of your trust.

He will not permit you to trust in an arm of flesh. He cannot bear that you should hew out broken cisterns, when the overflowing fountain is always free to you. When we lean upon Him, He is glad, but when we transfer our dependence to another, when we rely upon our own wisdom, or the wisdom of a friend-worst of all, when we trust in any works of our own, He is displeased, and will chasten us that He may bring us to Himself. He is also very jealous of our company.

There should be no one with who we converse so much as with Jesus. To abide in Him only, this is true love; but to commune with the world, to find sufficient solace in our carnal comforts, to prefer even the society of our fellow Christians to secret intercourse with Him, this is grievous to our jealous Lord. He would fain have us abide in Him, and enjoy constant fellowship with Himself; and many of the trials which He sends us are for the purpose of weaning our hearts from the creature, and fixing them more closely upon Himself. Let this jealousy which would keep us near to Christ be also a comfort to us, for if He loves us so much as to care thus about our love we may be sure that He will suffer nothing to harm us, and will protect us from all our enemies. Oh that we may have grace this day to keep our hearts in sacred chastity for our Beloved alone, with sacred jealousy shutting our eyes to all the fascinations of the world!

The Goodness of our Lord

Yesterday I got a phone call from the woman in charge of the hockey teams where our boys played last year. She wondered if our boys were still interested in playing. (It’s just one evening a week and just a bunch of kids getting together to play hockey. No league. I told her I would call her back after speaking with dh as we were just in the process of adopting and not sure the funds were there.

Our boys really wanted to play hockey this year again. But because of the adoption fees, dh and I just felt it wouldn’t be possible. So I started praying…afterall God says:
….”Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6″…….I asked God that if it was possible, could He provide a way.

Well, this morning I phoned this woman back and she said that we could just write post-dated cheques from now until Christmas for ANY amount that worked for us, as long as we were able to have it all paid before Christmas break. I’m still thanking and praising God.

I just needed to share this as my blog really is a journal of our lives. Realizing that I need to post things like this if for no other reason than for my children to have a “Memorial Journal” of how God provides, not only for ALL our needs, but gives us the desires of our hearts. And cares about even the littlest things in our every day lives.

So very Thankful.

…” Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. 1Chronicles 16:8″ (NIV)

Lifting my Eyes

“I lift my eyes up, to the mountains, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, Maker of heaven, creator of the earth!” Ps. 121:1-2

“He will not let your foot slip–he who watches over you will not slumber.” Ps. 121:3

“Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Ps. 124.8

You are the Potter I am the Clay

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Thou art the Potter, I am the clay.
Mold me and make me after Thy will,
While I am waiting yielded and still.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Search me and try me, Master, today!
Whiter than snow, Lord, wash me just now,
As in Thy presence humbly I bow.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Wounded and weary, help me, I pray!
Power, all power, surely is Thine!
Touch me and heal me, Saviour divine!

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Hold o’er my being absolute sway!
Fill with Thy Spirit till all shall see
Christ only, always, living in me!
(Have Thine Own Way, Lord
Adelaide Pollard (1862-1934))

“I am willing, Lord,
to receive what Thou givest,
to lack what Thou withholdest,
to relinquish what Thou takest,
to surrender what Thou claimest,
to suffer what Thou ordainest,
to do what Thou commandest,
to wait until Thou sayest, ‘Go’.”

Isaiah 64:8 (NIV)

Yet, O LORD, you are our Father.
We are the clay, you are the potter;
we are all the work of your hand.

My Hearts Cry….

“From The Inside Out “

A thousand times I’ve failed

Still Your mercy remains

And should I stumble again

Still I’m caught in Your grace

Your light will shine when all else fades

Your glory goes beyond all fame

Verse 2
Your will above all else

My purpose remains

The art of losing myself

In bringing You praise

Your light will shine when all else fades

Your glory goes beyond all fame
In my heart in my soul

Lord I give You control

Consume me from the inside out Lord

Let justice and praise

Become my embrace

To love You from the inside out!!!!!!

Your light will shine when all else fades

Your glory goes beyond all fame

And the cry of my heart

Is to bring You praise

From the inside out

Lord my soul cries out
